I was with Streetcar a couple of years ago. They continually changed their pricing and their terms of conditions throughout my contract. Cowboy outfit.

I have a friend who uses them at least once every fortnight and he has nothing but praise... £7-£8 for an hour with a car seems a bargin.

how did they change their prices and terms and conditions on you?

I received an email this morning stating that Streetcar has just been taken over by Zipcar (a larger mainly US version) so if you intend to use Zipcar here or abroad, will be a cheap way into the club (usually circa 50gbp a year IIRC)

I can't remember the exact details but it was along the lines of "this looks like a good deal, this is the one-off yearly membership plus the hourly rate and times that you can collect/return the car"....followed by the hourly rate changing several times during the year's membership along with the conditions that you can collect/return the car, petrol allowance, weekend use etc.

Basically they costed the whole opertaion incorrectly. Made it seem an attractive proposition and then started to realise that it wasn't making the return that their business model required so started increasing all the rates. Which would be acceptable if I hadn't already paid a yearly membership fee which was non-refundable. Plus they overcharged me for one journey by over £300 which took over a week to recover....

Was good if you just needed a car for an hour of so to go and collect something or other from a store but worked our prohibitively expensive if you wanted to park up and leave it for any lenght of time as the clock was always running. It was always cheaper to just hire a car for a day/weekend than to use one of theirs for more than a few hours. I just don't think that there is a market for occasional 2-3 hour hire. £8 an hour for 6 hours is £48, you could hire a car for 24hours for the same price.

I assume that is what it would cost... £50 for the registration and not sure on the £16 as it should be £6
