Ford Focus cooling hose connector tube thingy

As you can probably tell, I really only work with Aircooled stuff so cooling systems are largely a mystery. Does anyone know what the black tube at the front of the engine bay with the tape on it is called/Part no. The internet is full of links to non-existent pdfs unfortunately.



ssume I can just swap in a new one and fill up the coolant?

That's a common part to fail, a uni mate's gave out and blew coolant everywhere.

Just go down to Ford and the parts guy will know what it is.

Think it's about £20 ish.

watch out for air in the system! my friend killed an engine after messing with the coolant and getting an air lock!

No prizes for guessing what part failed on my car this evening....



Went quite spectacularly, sprayed all over the exhaust heat shield, lots of steam, which I initially thought was smoke!

Is this part likely to be in stock at a Main Dealer?

Minor detail. It's a ford, it's supposed to break down. £20 at the breakers will get you one.

I've had two of these and this is the first time I've had a major breakdown!

I don't really want a second hand pipe if they have a tendency of doing this, plus I don't have the time or vehicle to go scrappy hunting in!

The worst part is, I knew this pipe had a leak, but decided to leave it until the weekend to deal with!
