The scariest/eeriest thing you have seen on a drive?

Bit of an odd thread, but still.
Driving back at 2am a couple nights back, the sky was clear and the moon was full. Whilst driving along to the left of the car a field opened up with some trees, with the moon just shining its light through behind them. Then I froze as I saw what looked like a f
king scarecrow figure moving torwards me from the trees. Turns out it was just the positioning of a couple of thick branches with a set of rugby posts behind the trees caught in the moonlight. I continued on my journey, feeling like a petrified tit.
I was also confused a few months back when I was driving under a smattering of floating orange lights in the sky, that turned out to just to be those chinese lantern thingys. Not a good thing to see when you have watched Signs 2 days before!
Has anybody here been given an eerie fright or seen something odd (explainable or not) whilst on a drive? And by fright I don't mean some dozey woman in a Focus almost clipping your car (sorry ladies

It wasn't spooky, but there is a place on my commute home at night where I got flashed by a light every night. I was well under the speed limit (it's a 40 between 2 sets of traffic lights where a Lamborghini would be hard pushed to break the limit) but I kept getting flashed. I drove around looking for a speed camera in case I had been erroneously flashed, but to no avail. While driving down the road in the direction of the flash, I saw an NHS patient transport ambulance, one of the green ones, with an old woman sitting in the back, circling a roundabout. He was driving around it for a good minute while I approached, and as I rounded the roundabout and drove off down the road, he was still circling. As I approached the lights where I was flashed, I saw the flash again. I drove off. It struck me as a bit strange a patient transport ambulance being out there, in a road that goes only to a large IT company building, with literally nothing else around it for miles.
The flashing turned out to be a street lamp that goes off when there is no traffic and comes on when a car passes under it - distracting to say the least. I did find the Ambulance disconcerting though. Maybe he had a good reason for being there and circling the roundabout, but I will never know now. It was pretty eerie at the time though.

My eyes always play tricks on me at night and I see things that aren't actually there. Worst was when I was driving at night, around some country roads that are lined either side with rivers. No guard-rails or fences to stop you going in. I kept seeing odd figures and reflections in the water either side of me. Obviously none of it was real but the mind has a great ability to fool you. I ended up crawling along at about 20mph, full beams on, radio off, too scared to go any faster or look anywhere but straight ahead at the road in front of me. It doesn't translate to a very scary story when I type it out but it felt horrible at the time. I'd barely passed my test 6months prior to this so was still a new driver, on new roads, at night.
Driving through the french alps at about 3 in the morning, it was very foggy there was about 4 foot of snow piled up at the side of roads and massive drops with no barriers. This was all pretty scary and then a massive badger runs out infront of the van which was quite a shock, i didnt think badgers lived on mountains.
I was picking up the folks from a meal/party, i drove past the entrance so went a bit further so i cold join the road leading up the location, it was a small road along Loch Lomond and a park on the left side of me. Now this will be about 2am, i was driving slowly because there are usually cars parked on the road. All of a sudden i look further up the road and i seen some white trainers, looked up a tracksuit. Then all of a sudden was this bright white hockey mask staring at me on the side of the road barely moving. I pretty much froze for a second and and he kept looking, same stance, not moved a muscle. I quickly put the pedal to the floor. Bricked it, thought i was going to highjacked out my car.
Driving back from Burgas airport, in the wilds of Bulgaria at ~2AM, I saw what looked like a large dog writhing around at the side of the road. Foolishly I stopped (guns are legal here, no problem putting it out of its misery), to discover it was actually a Brown Bear cub, and there was something large crashing about in the undergrowth.

Glancing round to check the inner lane was clear when joing a motorway then looking round to see the car in front had stopped dead. Or the time I had to stop for an accident in front and watching an Omega approaching very quickly from behind, panic swerve onto the hard shoulder and stop a few car lengths in front of me.

Have done that before with a HGV infront of me and then one with the brakes slamed on heading towards me. I saw it coming and my brain (for once) told me to slam the car onto the hard shoulder. I did it, just in time to look sideways and see about [-----that-----] much space between, the back of the lorry in front, and the front of the lorry that (was) behind me...that would have been me and my car in that pancake sized gap.Just got back from Knockhill with a racing team, got in my car and was driving back to my house at about 3am.
Coming down this road, there was a figure in the middle. As I got closer, I realised it was a pissed pikey covered in blood and he had something in his hand.
I was very worried at this point. It was only when I got to the traffic lights less then 200 yards further down the road and he started running after my car did I st myself. FIrst time I have ran a red light and the fastest I have ever driven. I was so relived to get home

This morning, first drive in my new car, looking over my shoulder to pull onto the motorway, look back ahead and there's a bloody great big rock in the middle of the road. Swerved around it, and of course it was just a McDonald's bag!
It then blew away, which explains why I didn't see it before I checked my blind spot. I thought that was my new car lunched within 3 miles of purchase!

I once had someone what i think was try to carjack me, he was in a really knackered looking vectra and i was in a peugeot 306, i'd just been giving my younger brother some driving lessons down the crappy road that runs to the sewage waste treatment plant. We'd just swapped back when this guy comes down the narrow road and parks right up against the front of my car in the middle of the road, i was thinking WTF, so i backed up, he did the same again, and i thought it was wierd, the guy then starts to get out of the car and reaches into grab something, at this stage i'm not hanging about to find out what it is so i back up and dart round him on the grass. Long story short, he gives chase, i get cocky, decide to find out whats going on, let him catch up only for him to ram me (fairly gently, a jolt but only a cracked bumper), and do a U turn instantly on a t junction, this made me so anrgy my over cocky 18 year old mind says fk this, i'm gonna chase this guy (not wise) anyways, by the time i'd backed up and turned around, he was gone.
I also saw a meteorite burn up very low in the sky, a bright orange/green light with bits falling off it, for a second or 2 i thought it was aliens, bum nipper indeed. Then i thought it was a sattelite burning up, then i youtubed it and found it was a simple meteorite.

Driving from Athen to Kalamata with my parents on the motorway in the dark. Cars in front started braking hard, we saw a Fiat Punto in the fast lane with the passengers side A pillar bent in and one of the occupants being sick in the central reservation.
As we crawled past we saw the corpse of an old man with one of his legs ripped off at the hip, his leg was 20 yards or so further down the road!!

I was doing 70 downhill on a dual carriageway, I put my lights on full beam as it's
not a lit stretch of road, 1 dead badger and 3 live badgers in the road, hoe I managed to slow and swerve to avoid
them I'll never know, I like animals so don't
like hitting things but either way they'll destroy your car if you hit them.
Also the other night i saw a badger wearing what looked like a party hat, in hidsight it's prolly just got some rubbish on it's head but it was weird at the time
