Toying with the idea of a throwaway car and set myself a virtual budget of £500. Just how much performance can I get for that princely sum...or less even? scratchchin

So far I have found this in the PH Classifieds:

(This one is sold)frown Merc E430 V8

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1861801.htm

How about one of these? Golf GTI 16v £500

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1913014.htm

Any findings by Phers for that sum?

I'm tempted just to run it for a couple of months then punt it back on again.

The BMW is lovely as is that Merc - However, that GTi is cheating, isn't it - it has no MOT or tax....

Nor does the BM.

I like this thread although I fear it could result in me doing something spontaneous.

That celica's in good nick. Only mention of mileage is 'high', I wonder how high.

Oh god....that Mercedes! WANT!!!

Even if the thing only lasted for 2 months before exploding that would be money well spent. I need something like that in my life.

EDIT:

I've just seen that 300ce! I'm now cying a little inside. WANT!

On second thoughts, it probably wouldn't even get through it's MOT. I'll stick with the first one.

No Tax or MOT, could be a money pit.

Bit rough round the edges that one. Not entirely surprising perhaps given it's done "133000 thousand miles"

You wonder if some, or even most of the cars linked so far would be worth more if you bought them, took them apart then sold the parts separately on eBay or gumtree.

yes

You're not alone there.

You can forget threads about unobtainable exotica (I'm talking north of £20k biggrin), threads like this are where it's at for me!
