I found a copy of this from 1997 - it seemed to be based around club motorsport. Skimmed through it and it was a great read - articles on drag & off road racing, building a Jedi racer, balancing engines, Formula Vee etc

Presumably it's dead now (can't remember seeing it in the newsagents) but does anyone know how long it lasted for and if it's worth trying to get hold of any other issues?

yes Great magazine that was.

Track Driver is a good new magazine out, which includes Circuit Driver. I got my free copy yesterday smile I signed up for it ages ago.

Jedi what-now?

Sounds cool, I love EVO but it would be nice to have something more motorsport based that was a half decent read.

Sounds good, but EVO is all I need. Don't even bother with Top Gear magazine anymore - didn't seem to know whether it wanted to be a funny mag or a serious one, and lost the magic of the tv show.

I like Evo magazine, but their opinions and angle on track driving doesn't really satisfy that side of my interest. I'd like a magazine that provides more info on lower level motorsport (i.e. not Le Mans or WTCC!), engineering and covers driving techniques. Currently I get this from Race Tech and Circuit Driver (now Track Driver). I expect it's outside Evo's remit in fairness. I must confess though, I'm surprised that Evo don't cover more about driving techniques. Cycling magazines for example don't just review bikes, they review cycling techniques and training etc as well. I like driving, not just gauping at cars.

I will agree there, if there is anything EVO could improve on it's advice on advanced driving and techniques. I read other sources for that knowledge, I suppose EVO is a bit of a magazine for the learned because they expect their readers to be interested in the same kind of driving as them and to be familiar with the techniques and their application. In that sense, I do enjoy the geekyness of it biggrin

yes
Spot on - I've always wished that magazines would do more on this aspect.

Mark Hales writes about this Every Issue in his Coaching Corner within TrackDriver magazine, and also gets a lot of technique across in the car tests.

The free subscription offer is still there (if you're an active Track Pilot) but probably not for a great deal longer as the distribution numbers are being reached and post-paid subs are being launched shortly.

Sign up is at www.trackdriver.com
