Well it looks like I'm going to have to sell my C43, that I've just spent the last few months bringing back to its former glory cry I need the cash for an impending house move...

So I'll have about 2.5k to spend on a replacement and was thinking E36 328i Sport or Corrado VR6, and I've already had an MX5 and don't fancy another smile

So 2.5k, I'm not bothered about fuel economy, number of seats, insurance costs etc..

Or maybe i should just buy another 540i scratchchin

Of the 2 BMWs i'd have the 540i.

If you don't want a grumbly wafter i'd have the Corrado, mainly because I've had lots of BMWs and the Corrado is pretty much the only VW ever made that I actually like hehe

328 Sport all the way. Corrado, horrible fwd shoddily built nonsense, bh to work on and a pita for parts.
eta, panels really rather than parts.

Just drove to cheltenham and back this weekend in my 328i, and it was perfect smile First 60 odd miles is sweeping a roads, and its just meant for these. The rest is motorway, and it had no problem just eating them up at 90ish the whole way.

Had to take a detour on the way back because of a landslide, and caning it over b roads on the moors, it just went superbly.

It does everything that i ask of it well, and even returned a 34mpg average this weekend biggrin

328i

Just been out in my friends e36 cabrio with the roof off and it sounds awesome, much better than my e90 frown and it goes really well.

Corrado is nose heavy and FWD and I'd be surprised if you could get a decent one for £2.5k.

So 328 but I must admit they aren't really a drivers delight.

I'd consider a tuned Mk2 (or Corrado) GTi maybe a Clio 172.

Or a tuned the 328 as the 2.8 was detuned and doesn't reward like it should.

Corrado, they are not actually front end heavy, hence why people still rate them as fwd drivers cars. Ive got a G60, and they are fun in the twisties, and comfortable and quiet on the motorway. The 328's do go and sound fantastic, doubt there any performance differences in the two.

yes Just an induction modification will significantly improve top end power.

328 all the way. I sold mine and moved up to the M3 but, for everyday driving, by that I mean not going daft, it was a bit of a pointless move. Very similar looks, sound and feel, but you can run the 328 on a shoestring. They're just a lovely car. I've never been in a corrado mind but, I've owned golf gtis, etc. I just prefer rwd wherever possible and I find VW's really boring.

325 manifold pretty much bolts on. Just need a fitting kit from ebay etc. Instantly get about 20-30hp more, remap helps too. They detuned it because they were worried itd piss all over the M3's chips.

M3 said it had about 280hp, but they rarely make that, a 328 with manifold would make about 220ish, which isnt that big a gap any more.
