Following on from this thread about dinosaur cars, which cars did the opposite? Cars that were only produced for a relatively short period of time?

Not really the rare, unusual or exotic but those aiming for the mainstream.

Vauxhall Sintra 1996-1999

Toyota Yaris Verso 2000-2004

Ford Cougar 1998-2002

Mercedes Vaneo 2002-2005

I believe the Lotus Elise S1 was 1996 to 2000-2001 giving a 4/5 year lifespan

It didn't really die, rather it was actually so successful it gave the company the budget to make the car they originally wanted (nothing against the S1, I prefer it to the S2 but one of the reasons for the facelift was to get rid of the borrowed parts and generally tidy it up)

No need to be ashamed, I'm rather partial too.

Oddly The Mercedes E class cabriolet. 1993-1996. Couldn't sell them at all, probably down to price. Now appreciating wonderfully

1989 - 1995 so not shortlived really, but definitely a poor seller compared to what it was expected to do...

Yes they were v expensive - but that is the norm for open top Mercs anyway - the priority was for low volumes as in previous Merc Cabriolets-they were priced for exclusivity and rarity
