Got the renewal in and it makes interesting reading...

Admin fees changed.... If I take the car outside the UK I need a Green card.... £14 for 2 weeks... oh and an admin fee of £26!

Stolen Car Keys? Claim limit is £500

Parts: They may or may not use OEM parts in the repair of your car

Repairs: If I choose not use use an approved repairer then my excess increases by £200

Renewal? Not a hope in hell

I don't use them currently but considering switch to swift.

Cheapest for me on most cars I get quotes for and everything can be done online.

I may even change home insurance to them as it's half my current aviva policy.

Are they cheap for a reason???

If you go outside of the UK you dont need a green card. Every policy (by law) covers you 365/365 3rd party in the EU - the green card is 'topping up' your fully comp cover.

If the car isnt worth much, dont bother with the optinal extras.
I would have thought his car was worth more than £14.

My mate works in the eSure approved Body Shop for our area, and it's an absolute Joke what they repair. Some panels end up being more filler than metal, and this is on brand new cars!

He's constantly complaining that they won't let him use oem parts. They get paid a set fee per car. Whether it;s a scratch or it's been rear ended, so they are constantly cost cutting on every single aspect. They send them out in some right states, and apparently many people can;t be bothered to complain or don;t even look, so it's worth doing and dealing with the few that come back.

He;s looking to move BTW. He actually used to repair Top end cars for specialists before he was made redundant, so this bodging is against everythign he stands for, but if he doesn;t, then he doesn;t get the better jobs from the foreman, and he can;t afford the rent.

If your thinking of going with Swift Cover read their t&c's especially the section on windscreen cover.

I was with esure for a year, they completely folded and paid up on an accident I was not at fault for. They couldn't be arsed fighting their corner and so I lost my NCB. I won't return to them regardless of cover or price.

I've heard swift will make you use their approved repairer or you pay the difference.

Friend had a new, two week old, Audi A5, Audi approved bodyshop quoted £4500 for repairers swifts own bodyshop estimated £1500. If he wanted Audi approved repair with Audi repair methods he had to pay the difference!! Lots of shouting followed they wouldn't back down he chose to pay the difference. Checks the small print.

It's not rocket science with motor insurance. There is no margin in it so if it's cheap on the front end (the premium) its cheap on the back end service/claims

I used e-Sure from when they first launched for about 4 or 5 years and couldn't say enough good things about them in terms of cost and service; the way they handled a my-fault parking bump c.2004 (last accident I had) was exemplary to the person hit, and utterly no hassle to me either.

Then c. 2007-8 that all seemed to go away and while I've always sought renewal quotes from e-Sure since, they've always been miles off - and rubbish with details. Heck even the AA has remained significantly cheaper since then on the annual ring-around (though I'm not with that organisation either...)
