There are two Group4 Panteras in the classifieds and they kind of make my knees weak.

Alongwith the Countach, the Pantera defined the outrageous supercar I dreamed off as a boy. One of the Grp4s for sale claims 530 bhp and 1150kgs! Must be epic!

Any Pantera owners here with some experiences they could share re. ownership, performance, etc?

Also, could we have the definitive guide to the car's evolution with some pictures to drool over?

One day I am going to own a Pantera! Over the top and just superb! I saw one at Goodwood last year and absolutely loved it.

I agree, some info would be great, the Pantera was a dream machine of mine too, always thought it might be a kind of "practical" supercar being powered by a common Ford 351 V8, although I imagine the rear gearbox/transaxle would not be cheap to fix.

Too leftfield for those with no imagination and go for the defaults, I reckon these are possibly the coolest cars of their era.

Very nice indeed. IIRC the driving experience is pretty raucous and looking after one properly can be "interesting" on the wallet.

Wonderful things! Together with Lotus Europa and Maserati Bora this is what started my enthusiasm for mid-engined cars. smile

Lovely looking cars. there was magnificent one at Concourse Italiano in the states a few years ago, which had pretty much everything under the rear deck tweaked and chromed, including the addition of a great big supercharger hehe

Great band. Strong riffs, heavy choruses and a ledgend guitarist.

Wrong pantera?

I'd love a de tomaso pantera, they just look epic, would rather one of them than a lambourghini of the same period.

oddly enough, this morning I was reading an old classic and sportscar magazine from June 2000 with a Derek Bell supercar shoot out and a load of cars from the 60s to the 90s. the pantera is one of those tested so i will dig it out. PM your address and I can send it you if you really want it!....

Saw a lovely white one in race trim at Snetterton at the weekend.

Hopefully Digby will post a picture of it latter. smile

Personally I prefer the Mangusta.

But both are utterly beautiful.

It's taken half an hour to reply to this post, I found a video or two and then had to clean up some mess!

Hmm. Pantera, I guess that was a drop off from my recent V8 thread.

Hmm. Nice.
