I was looking to get a Parrot bluetooth kit for my new car, but for the price I think I'd probably be better of buying a bluetooth headunit and have it all combined.

I've seen a decent looking Pioneer one (6200?) and some Sony one's that look pretty good, but I was wondering whether anyone else has any suggestions.

I'd rather one with an external microphone, rather than a built in one.

I no longer have an iPhone, or an iPod so that connectivity isn't really a priority.
An Aux/usb input would be useful, but I don't mind whether it's at the front or the back.

Budget it probably up to around £150

I've seen some for about 80 quid, but would rather spend a little more if it means getting a better system.

Any suggestions/recommendations?

I have an Alpine unit in mine and it's fantastic. Let me try and find the model number.

Recent Alpine units like the one suggested above have Parrot's BlueTooth system built in. It's much better than the junk used by JVC and Pioneer which doesn't transfer your phonebook automatically.

Cheers

I've seen a couple of nice looking Alpine ones, I'll try and see if any audio places near me have any for me to take a better look at.

This is the Pioneer one I saw, which seems pretty decent http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_...

I think the cheapest places do it for around £130

Pioneer's Bluetooth is miserable. I think you'll regret getting that HU you linked.

See now I've had two pioneer units, one fitted in a truck and one in my van for the last three/four years. Never had an issue with either, and I spend all day in the van.

It runs the ipod straight off the menu, and I've managed to transfer the phonebook (although I did have an issue with a previous phone that wouldn't allow me to do it).

Bump, any other suggestions?

I've kept the standard headunit for now, but fancy getting a new one. I'm nots sure necessarily need bluetooth anymore, but I like the idea of a combined system.

Ideal budget would be around £150ish, but don't mind spending more.

Another vote for the Alpine unit.

There was a thread about this a couple of days ago.

I have an Alpine CDE-103BT (older version of the one above, I guess, don't see any differences in spec). It's pretty good. BT worked perfectly with my old HTC TyTN II but a bit sketchy with my Hero. USB stuff works very well too, got an iPod cable but it doesn't work with my old iPod so can't comment on that.

Only annoyance is the front mounted aux/USB.

I'm looking at getting one for the other car and have been looking at the Kenwood BT40U / BT50U / BT60U. The latter has a great spec, rear USB/aux and is still cheaper than the Alpine.

Cheers, from the latest replies above it seems as if the Alpine is quite well regarded then!

I've seen a few decent looking Kenwood one's, but as I had one in the last car I fancied a bit of a change (nothing wrong with it)

My only other worry was whether the built in microphones were that good?

Alpine has a separate mike, ran it up the A-pillar and have found it to be very good, even in an old car on the motorway. Think the BT60U has a separate mike also, the other two have built in ones.
