My Car gets Stolen from Honda and my Insurance gos up? Why
Discussion
Hello All
I was just wondering if I could get some advice from yourselves regarding my Car Insurance.
Last year I had a Honda Civic Type R which went in to the Honda Dealer for some work and a couple of weeks later I am told that it has been stolen. So I get the money of the Dealer for the Car and thats the end of that. But my insurance company has now say it will go on my record (costing me £50 a year and more if I want something better then my naff Ford Ka) and the reason for it being on my record (not because I claimed off the Insurance) is because I am more likely to get my Car stolen again.
What can I do to get it off my record and not have to fork out so much money to these sharks?
Any advice would be most grateful.

Well the way they look at it is that you tend to leave your car in places where it is likely to be stolen.
Suck it up I'm afraid, you had a car stolen and I'm sure they can trot out any number of surveys and statistics that say you're more likely to have another one stolen. That's life. I know that's not what you want to hear but you'll not hear anything more positive.

They have an excuse to rape you and are using it. Try a few insurance companies some will be less nasty.
Due to claims from morons who can get whiplash at 10mph, and the frankly obscene hire car charges made by accident management companies insurance has gone up. It isn't just car insurance either other types of liability cover are more expensive due to ambulance chasers claiming negligence when people are thick.

Hey Guys
The car was in for a while as a van went in to it and it needed the whole side of the car changed. The car was never found sadly as I ruddy well loved it. I have written a letter to my Insurance Company asking them to give me a reason for it. I did get in contact with Honda about the whole mess and they were not even that bothered about it which quite shocked me. I guess I am going to have to grin and bear the cost which is a joke.
Thank you for the advice.

.....some stupid bi/tch made a false claim against me last year which she then decided to drop....police were involved and insurance company informed.....net loss to me an increase of about 30% on this year's premium on my taxi insurance for something that never happened.....friggen crazy.

I'm sturggling to understand how a car that had a van go into the side of it and needed 'the entire side' changed could be 'stolen'.
Who would steal a crashed Civic?
Possibly it was stolen after it had been fixed?Who would steal a crashed Civic?
CCTV?
One minute it's there, then it's not. What happened in the time between?
How was it stolen?
Also, he's complaining the cost of his insurance has gone up because the car was stolen... surely his costs would have gone up anyway from the claim he'll make against the van writing off 'the entire side' of his car? Or declaring he's been in an accident?

I'm struggling to understand how your insurance company can justify loading your premium for your car getting stolen when 1) it wasn't in your care at the time 2) it was covered by the garage's insurance 3) you haven't claimed 4) it was stolen whilst being repaired under their insurance.
How much extra are they charging you for the fact that it was stolen?

It's a quirk of statistical analysis they do. If they were to review each case in detail, your insurance would cost ten times what it does now, so they use a handful of inputs into a system that uses various weightings to determine a risk value for you and your car. "Has had a car stolen" counts against you for obvious reasons, they don't have an input for "has had a car stolen whilst in a dealership".
