Hi all

I'm flying back into Stanstead in the next couple of hours and wanted to know what the roads are like between there and home in Lincoln

M11 A14 A1

Should I book a hotel and tackle it tomorrow?

Highways Agency should help.

Fine at Stansted, will be snow at your destination - a band is currently scything across the country and it's southern limit is just above Peterborough.

Try here (stick your postcode in the search box on the left)

frown the highways agency site doesn't work on my phone, I just get a big blue square where the map of the UK usually is.

Acording to the Mrs Lincoln is bedlem, but I don't know about the main roads.

I'd rather try and get home, but obviously don't want to end up stuck on the A1 or some such.

I'm about to board my flight so will check back here when I land.

TIA

ex lincoln lad, family still live there.

a46 is anarchy, all the way to a1 newark, upper lincoln is as busy as usual but with added accidents/delays.

Yep just taken me 1.5 hours to do less than a 2 mile round trip in Lincoln. Roads are not bad but the folks driving on them are cacking themselves, so going very slow and not letting people in, resulting in the delays. Will probably be ok by the time you have landed and got back on the road.

Good idea. Im in Lincoln and deliver for Waitrose. The whole day has been a mare. Managed to do my round even up to woodhall spa, horncastle and louth. However after this evening I think I may have to cancle some orders. Canwick Hill, Cross'o'cliffe Hill, Yarborough Hill, Lindum Hill and Waddington Hill all closed. People have just parked where they were and walked home. Some on myface have been reporting it taking them 2 hours to cover half a mile. Not good at all. Take care on your journey back fella.

It took me 2.5 hours today to go from Doddington road to Portland street. Thinking of walking to work tomorrow!

I am in Lincoln, took me 4 hours to get from the high street to Monks Road where I gave up and walked home. Avoid Lindum Hill area like the plague.

I'll be leaving in the next hour or so. It looks like the roads down here are OK, but I can't seem to get any acurate info about the A1 and A46. I have LincFM on via the laptop but they are concentrating on the roads in Lincoln itself.

The Mrs says they've had around 10-12 inches overnight (Brant Road) as the snow is above the bottom of the doors of her Fiat Ulysse.

Crazy!

This is Allenby area

All trains an buses cancelled, all schools closed, I don't think you will have the mass traffic issues but you may have some snow issues smile Have fun.

The journey home was very uneventful in the end. Went via the M1 as the A1 was closed at Grantham. All the main roads are clear with little traffic. It only got daft once past Pennells. 6-10 inch deep piles of snow in the middle of the roads, abandoned cars etc.

The front bumper of my car made a good snow plough getting onto the drive smile
