Has anyone used, or currently using, the heated seat covers in their car??

I was looking at a set for my cheap winter runabout for a little extra comfort. They seem cheap enough and plug into the cigarette lighter. Like these.

My mam used to have one years ago and she liked it, I have OEM heated seats in the Z4 and will be putting them on in about 5 minutes when I get in to drive to work! smile

One of my employees bought one with massager for his Transit. Horribly uncomfortable things.
I use heated seats in my Z3M almost everytime in winter though.

What's the best way to turn a single 12v socket into two?

As simple as that? Is there no issues with extra load on the original socket? I'm not very good with electrics!

I've not got that one, in fact I've got a triple-adaptor which has been fine, no issues.

The issue comes in that you are pulling a larger current through the socket. The seats are unusual in that they draw large current, having three mobile phones on charge is probably less that the power required to heat the cigarette lighter.

I think my girlfriend would like one of these. I wonder which if the more expensive version is worth the extra...

I think I'll order a pair of these today! It would be just selfish to only have one on the driver's seat with a passenger onboard!! Lol.

Might want to ensure the cigarette lighter isn't constantly powered if you are giving them to someone who may not always remember to unplug or switch it off after switching the car off.

That or get them a set of jump leads and an RAC/AA Membership to go with it.

My £12 ebay special arrived on Monday.

For such a cheap little item, it's wonderful. I bought it because my Mum and my girlfriend like to have the car heater on 'nan' setting, which is too hot for me.

So now I can have the heater on comfortable for me and they stay toasty with the cover.

It's great, they both love it. Unusually for these days, it seems we have a bargain item on our hands here chaps.

But yes, don't forget to unplug it if your lighter socket stays on with the ignition off...luckily so far I remember every time. I am sure I will forget one day though, cue flat battery frown

I used one all of last winter in the Caterham Seven (with a tillet type GRP seat). Fabulous item. Rosy cheeks all winter!
