Did a little test over the past few days, as screenwash is a bugbear as we all know. Seems some of the cheating suppliers are far worse than others!

I assumed the blue'er it was the better it might be, seems not to be the case scratchchin

So don't buy the frozen crap rage if anybody has any more tubs of it, leave some out overnight post up the results & the the temp recorded

Here's this mornings results after -10c here in Dorset

redcard CARPLAN READY MIXED FROZEN SOLID AT -10C

thumbup HOLTS SCREENWASH (-15 RATED) OK AT -10C

All very well, but the Carplan crap is what's on sale at every motorway service station at the moment rage & your note would suggest that ready mixed includes a good dose of blue dye!

I use the Halfords Pink ready mixed. Had been OK Until last Monday Morning when it -13 and the washers wouldn't work. Still weren't working an hour and a half later when I finally got home.

I have car plan concentrate -5 in mine which froze at at -3 on dash on my 240 mile drive yestaday and unfroze when temp was at -1 on the parts of the journey.

Kept doing this for about 6 times in the journey.

To be fair it was only there all weather stuff which I bought in the summer for 15pence a litre when Sainsbury had a sale so can't complain as normal price was about £1.50 and was close to the rated temp but was with engine heat helping it.

I use the VAG screenwash. It's rated to glacial temperatures and has not frozen.

I'm using autoglym's screenwash, I've got it mixed 1.5L to 4.5L of water but it's not frozen on me yet and cuts through the crap on the screen and lights very well.

It's not cheap though but I will definitely be buying some more.

The stuff from Lidl is good.
Just under a fiver for 5 litres of concentrate (Why pay for +50% water with readymixed silly ).
It's by far the best stuff I've ever used.

I have a litre of the VAG stuff .... at 1:1 it is rated to -70C !!!

Halfords concentrate just says winter conditions at 1:1 ....

Guess the VAG stuff may be worth the money !

Fecking ace that VAG stuff, we usually get a silver bottle of the stuff left in the boot when the car goes in for a service, but we've run out, so I'm using Tesco blue stuff which has been okay mixed half and half.

VAG at £3/L or so hasn't let me down yet - I think there's something in the UK psyche that makes the average (i.e. non PH'er) motorist consider £3 to get them through the winter to somehow be expensive.
