Not too sure where to post this - So mods please feel free to move as you please smile

Right, I've been given a JBL GTO2000 400W amp from a friend as a spares or repair job. The only major fault was that the phono cable input plugs had become detatched from the board. So I thought this would be a simple fix of just soldering them back on. But thought before I go to the hassel of finding a soldering iron burning myself with it and curssing for 2 hours trying to get the damn thing back on the board I could wire the amp up to my old battery thats lying around in the garage just to make sure that the power would work on it and possibly touch the connections of the phono plugs onto the board to make enough of a contact.

Amp on the desk, battery next to it. Connected up the remote onto the +12V and then the +12V to the + on the battery. Then the ground to the - on the battery and got some nice sparks as you do. But it remained dead didnt get the power light at all. Checked the fuse which was fine. Dont really know where to go next with it.

Anybody got any ideas what I could do? Thanks

Will investigate the board tommorow then, only thing I can think of is where the phono's join in there's a connection there that has to be made before it goes live?

And yes i did apply to both at the same time. I had a wire going from the remote terminal into the +12V terminal and then another wire from there to the battery.

Failing that, anybody got an amp they wish to donate/sell to me? got £20-£30 spare for one. Just need an amp got all the wires allready.

I had the same one a couple years ago myself the JBL GTO2000 with a JBL CS12 Sub, it sounded great. Not to loud but a deep bass if you go for the sealed box opposed to the ported. Failing you are unable to get it fixed, it would be worth a look on the car audio centre website. Really cheap, and they do next day delivery as well I dont know if you will get another GTO2000 for £20 - £30 but Im sure there will be something else good on there for a couple more pounds thumbup
