Do you use an iPhone, iPod touch or Android phone?
Discussion
I had a dension unit when I had my Cayman - my ipod touch was left in there nearly all the time. If I used my ipod more outside of the car I would have put some music on an old nano and left that in there - or got a high cap USB key as that also works with the dension unit I had. The total integration with the PCM system was great.

How well does that work? I've tried streaming Internet radio through my car before now and 3G seems to have issues when moving. My iphone uses an iphone/ipod cable that is already in the car in the glovebox on my mx5 and even the wheel controls still allow me to switch tracks etc. Doesn't charge the iphone 4 like mine though.
In the girlfriends Twingo it works by using bluetooth to stream it to the stereo which is superb but doesn't allow the controls to work the iphone.
All these came in the cars as standard, no additional expense required.

In the MINI, you have to control it via the i-phone, since ours doesn't have the proper attachment or whatever
Do you not have the Y-cable your Mini? I have that in mine and I control the music from the iDrive-esque knob behind the gearbox. In the MINI, you have to control it via the i-phone, since ours doesn't have the proper attachment or whatever
My cheapo daily runner (Pro-cee'd) can use a direct cable connected to any iPhone (supplied with the car) and is controlled from the steering wheel controls.
It also has bluetooth streaming for all iPhone functions (phone, music, satnav, video) and the steering wheel controls all work with these functions too.
Not bad for a budget car that some might rip the piss out of

iPhone 3G in new MX5, connected via Griffin Autopilot to Aux-in socket. Music is controlled from the iPhone or Autopilot. Sounds quality is very good.

Android. But use a dedicated mp3-player hooked to the aux-socket in the car, since the mp3-player has hard coded controls for changing tracks and pause.
IMO, the music integration in cars via USB or Bluetooth AVRCP/A2DP is poor, and doesn't justify any extra money for an optional or aftermarket interface.
