Yesterday my neighbour came round to borrow a funnel for a petrol can as "it was going everywhere" and she didn't have one. (That's fine, I've got about four petrol cans and one funnel as I'm always losing them.)

This morning I just spoke to her and she said her car had died and won't start. So a friend is coming round to look at it. Odd that it coincides with her getting fuel from the petrol station. scratchchin

I noticed she'd left the funnel by the door but it was wet still. Petrol would evaporate so I picked it up and smelt it. Yes, that's right it seemed the dozy bint had put diesel in. hehe
Easy mistake to make.

However

I told her it was diesel she'd put in but she insisted that the "petrol" she bought had it written on the front. confused You bought a ready filled petrol can? She showed me the can she bought and indeed it said in big writing on the front "Petrol", yes and then 10W 40 underneath! roflrofl

Oil in the petrol tank, that's a first.

Oops. Did you inform her it's actually supposed to go in where the 710 cap is?

Maybe there should be a law about purchasing oil in case it is misused. Like the laws for buying knives and spray cans.

It was that new concentrated stuff, it reduces the packaging wink

How much is she prepared to pay for petrol? it must have cost about £15 for 5 litres!

Why would a can of oil have petrol written on it? Or have I misunderstood something here?

Whoops

Should be fine with a fresh tank of petrol

A bit smokey on start-up

Not stupid just hasn't got a clue about cars, I have the same level of knowledge about computers, ZERO.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to have a basic understanding of the oily bits in the driving test.

I'll see if I can get a pic of the "petrol" she bought, I can see why she thought it was petrol. It's in the wheelie bin so I don't want to make it obvious.

Castrol tend to have either Petrol or Diesel in big letters for 'tards who don't know how to look for what viscocity they should be using.

Sadly, she has taken it to a whole new level!

I have worked with a "mechanic" who decanted a large drum of oil into smaller drums. He did well as he wrote what kind of oil it was on the smaller drums after reading the large drum.

Yes we had loads of drums of 205L

Probably, as some some oils are more suitable for petrol engined cars and some for diesels, they are identidied as such.
