Hire Car -Specifically a car when held licence for 6 months

Well the title says it all really.
A friend of mine is having to do a trip up to Glasgow at the end of the month and her car will be off the road as it's needing some major work doing (lunched gearbox, clutch and throttle assembly, don't ask me how she did it as I shudder to think) so wants to hire a car for the weekend to do the trip as she also has a few meetings to get to while she is up there. I have tried steering her down the train route as I don't think anybody will hire her a vehicle as she has only held a full licence since July last year. However does anybody here know any companies that would hire a car out to a relativly newly qualified 28 year old driver as I'm just drawing blanks.

I worked in hire drive, many moons ago...
No chance; while age is somewhat relevant, the fact she has only been driving for six months will over-ride her age.
IF you can find a company willing to hire to her, which I doubt, there will be a horrific excess attached to the hire, even after some waiver/insurance payment is sold to her.
Bus/train/lift for ease, IMO.

I had a feeling this would be the case to be honest. Her first tact was to ask if she could borrow my car for the weekend but to say after seeing the state of her 1.25 fiesta thats the last thing I'd want to do (She's a good friend, but I want my car back in one peice). Of course the simplest option would be for her to bring the repair work forward (why she booked it for the end of the month is beyond me) so she has her own car back, but evidently thats to simple. Well she has contacted Enterprise.......and has rented a Passat! If you see a pneumatic busted blond 20 something driving up or around Glasgow in a passat the last weekend of this month, for your own safety and sanity, duck, cover and hide!!! Maybe an idea for her to ring a few places.

Well she has contacted Enterprise.......and has rented a Passat! If you see a pneumatic busted blond 20 something driving up or around Glasgow in a passat the last weekend of this month, for your own safety and sanity, duck, cover and hide!!! Maybe an idea for her to ring a few places.

I'm surprised Enterprise will rent to someone who hasn't had their licence 12 months. I worked in the rental industry for 13 years until last year, I was sure they're requirements were at least 12 months.
