Gone bust?

Website has been down for three days now.

Shame if they have gone. They always seemed to beat Camskill and Blackcircles for both road and track tyres. Though maybe, that was their undoing?

Anyone know what's happened to them?

Never heard of them, and that's unusual considering the number of forums I'm on.

Edit: quick google seems to say they weren't delivering before Christmas and not giving refunds:

I ordered some tyres back in late September from them. When they didn't turn up at the tyre depot I rang them only to find their phone line kept going dead within 2 rings. After a couple of days of this and no response to emails I got my credit card company to refund me, I was told they'd gone under.

That's interesting, because their website was up until Christmas.

Oh well. Thanks for the confirmation.

I've been poking around this one today, and low and behold PH turns up smile

Website still down. Would be really interesting to know why they went bust.

Their costs exceeded their income, perhaps?

If they've had as much trouble as Camskill getting hold of winter tyres then they'll have lost loads of business through the autumn - I would have bought 7 tyres at about £100 each from Camskill in the last 3 months if they had been in stock.

I wish you would have posted this earlier, that would have stopped me spending £350 with them for none existant tyres on the 12th Dec 10, which still hasn't been returned despite numerous requests.

I have spoken to a previous employee of the company, who left in Nov 10 who said they may well have already been going under when they took my cash so maybe the cops might be having a word with the MD Greg Allison

Wow, cash is for a bag of crisps, or a mug of tea.

No, credit card but I am having a hell of a job trying to get them to refund the money.

Interestingly enough, just after I made my last post the MD of the company, Greg Allison phoned me up apologising for what had gone on. He wasn't that sorry to give me a refund but said that the company didn't stop trading until late December.

When I made mention of Husaberg's comments and that of his previous employee indicating that his company was already insolvent when he took my money he told me that " I had got it all wrong", convenient eh?

Ring your credit card company, tell them the company has gone bust, you'll get your refund almost instantly. I don't know why you're trying to get the company to refund it, or have I read it properly?

I know he's new here, but he doesn't, on the face of it, seem stupid. So I guess he's trying the credit card company. Some are better than others.

Did Greg actually say what had gone on? I wonder if he's a member here...

Hi everyone,

Please accept my apologises for bailing straight in because I know really I should have introduced myself before reddening your ears, but after the afternoon I have had with trying to find out if this company is still in existance and what, if anything the Trading Standards people might want to do about them, I am a bit frazzled.

First off, many thanks "Deva Link" for your support, I know the red wine has probably taken the edge off my frontal cortex, but as you so gracefully picked up on, I am not quite ready for the bread basket yet.

I have contacted my credit card company, Tesco Visa who have been, on the whole very supportive, albeit very difficult to get through to.

The stumbling block we, or should I say I, have reached is that Tesco Visa refuse to forward my complaint to Visa International for consideration unless I can provide them with an email or letter from Macsamstyres that quite literally quoted the number of the account they said they were going to refund the money to!!!!!

The fact I have an email stating that the money would be "re-creditted to the credit/debit card I used for the original transaction" does not seem to cut any ice.

The call centre staff, probably because all the calls are taped, were very guarded about what they said, but it was quite clear this was not an isolated incident and that the attitude of VIsa and Mastercard were causing them no end of problems.

I telephoned Visa International to try and confirm if the email from Macsamstyres really did have to quote the actual account number they said they were going to recredit it to.

I spoke to some very delightful Indian ladies who, after fifteen minutes, told me that because I was not one of their "card providers" they could not help.

I have asked Greg Allison from Macsamstryes to please send me a supplementary email quoting my actual credit details and all this would go away and guess what, he needs to "take advice" before trying to access the company database and send emails", he clearly didn't have any such qualms to recover my mobile telephone number, which I did not leave on my initial email.

I have just reviewed all the above and I am beginning to put myself to sleep, so if you are with me still, many thanks.

I am a bloodyminded individual and I have no doubt I will get my money back, or if not I will just refuse to pay the £365.64 to Visa and wear the subsequent CCJ as a campaign medal.

In closing, Husaberg, if you are out there, would you be willing to speak direct, I think it may well help out.

Regards to all

Pliskin3

What on esrth is all that about - the credit card company know which account you used, they can see the amount on your bill!!

Is the issue that they believe the company is still trading?

He's having a crap time with a credit card company...
Bit late on a Friday to get my head round this completely, but I believe under distance selling regulations or consumer credit act the card company is obliged to refund you - the transaction is over £100 and the goods have not been supplied. It doesn't matter what the offending business has said or done. However you may be well advised to get your chargeback request in writing to your card provider pronto as I've no idea if there are any time limits. I could google such things, but having just got the last child to bed I'm going to watch some crap on iPlayer instead.

Figure out which regulations you're claiming under, then write to your card provider and tell them to sort it out on this basis.
