'06 Subaru WRX STI or........

I'm looking for something quick, 4 doors (for the family), and must be fun, reliable and fairly low mileage as it'll be my daily. The only thing im not 100% on is the interior. The Subaru for me ticked nearly all the boxes but should i be considering anything else? My budget is 12k.

While on the subject of WRX STI's has anyone got any good advice they could impart? Parts, servicing, weak items?
Anything to look out for?

I swapped my '06 Impreza WRX PPP for a Focus ST-3 (re-mapped). Much nicer place to spend the time than the Subaru.

Other alternative; Mazda 6 MPS

Mk5 Golf R32? A big engined E46 BM? An EVO if you can afford to run it?

Ergonomics have been the weak point of every Subaru I've owned. No telescoping wheel and built for people under 6 foot with little feet.
