Hi Guys,

I was struck by some falling hardcore off the back of a tipper truck on the M25 last night, chap stopped, was very nice and we exchanged details. He told me to ring his boss, I did she gave me the number for the insurance company.

Now the damage is not huge but it is a grill, headlamp, bonnet which has a very deep sharp edged gouge through the first skin and dinner plate sized dent as you can imagine from hitting a brick sized lump concrete at 70mph.

Do I have the right to specifiy BMW carry out the repairs? Its not a classic as such but is my pride and joy immaculate E39 M5 which I had planned to keep immaculate I dont want it filled with P40 by a pikey "approved" garage.

Thanks for advice.

As I understand it, you have the right to specify where your car goes for repair. It just may take longer (in processing etc) than an "approved" repairer.
