Hi all

I am looking at getting a second car in the next month or two. I have a TDi Octavia for the daily grind. I've been toying with a properly sorted Defender, since my off road Disco is on sale right now. I've enjoyed my off roading career, however I think it's time for a change, so, if I don't go for the Defender, what 2nd car would you buy?

Criteria? Not really anything, other than it must be PH worthy. smile Oh, and at 27 in an average post code insurance can't be silly money, maybe up to another £1k on top of the £5k purchase price, which I will have additionally to purchase. smile

Daily commute, I thought these were a bit tinny after 30 miles. I have driven a bogo one and felt a bit uncomfortable after a while..

Good b roader thou..

an X308 Jaguar XJR
supremely comfortable, very fast
and you could probably get a good one for that
fuel economy isn't a strong point. and nor is insurance. or general maintenance. but still lovely cars

See, now if you can buy a Ferrari F355 for £5k then it fits the insurance criteria. I'm 27 and only pay £834

Just a thought - what do our American/ Aussie cousins offer in the 'V' shaped bracket for this money? Always loved/ wanted a 'stang, but the shape of the one's around this budget (mid 90's) just leave me a little "meh"

For my money, £5k goes on the best Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0V6 24v money could buy, in a good colour combination.

TVR S1 or TVR Wedge. Both could go on a classic policy as well so insurance would be fairly cheap.

Is a supra in budget?? Also, what would people make of a £5k S2000? Too ropey?
