If I have grossly mis-generalised a 'Build Quality' group could you elaborate why you feel so.
Because I think Honda are probably very near the top, and Mazda somewhere around the middle. Perhaps my experience of Mazda has been unusually bad, though.

Wheres the Alfa option wink

FWIW I chose, Volvo, Ford/Vauxhall and Honda & co.

My parents have always had Vauxhalls, they run them into the ground, and generally we see well over 100k miles before the big bills start coming in. I have had a few fords, and they have generally been very reliable and cheep to fix.

I have never owned a Volvo but I believe from owners that they are very reliable workhorses and take a lot of abuse, seeing high mileages before the big bills start coming again. They also have a nice solid feel to them, and have lovely interiors.

Meh. Its all personal opinion at the end of the day though.

I've only ever owned 3 of them, but I have an ill informed opinion on most of them. This is PH after all.

I voted Honda/Nissan/Mazda.
Every time I get in one of their taxis I am amazed at the ride/rattlefreeness compared to the intergalactic mileage.
Anything VAG simply can't compare, plus I've just had yet another oil pump go on a VW 2.0TDi PoS at work. Bloody things.
rolleyes
PS I think Toyota should be grouped with Honda/Nissan/Mazda.

Where is Saab? Mercedes? Jaguar? To name but three glaring ommisions and thus getting rid of any real true reflection of build quality?

I have a 14 year old Honda Civic that has done 130k, it doesn't rattle, the seats aren't worn in any way, everything still functions on it and it has never broken or failed to start since I have owned it.

I'm not sure if I can edit and retain the votes?

Why would you suggest a notable difference between Honda/Nissan/Mazda and Subaru/Mitsubishi?
I wouldn't particularly, it was just that you had!
I didn't know if you were keeping Subaru and Mitsubishi seperate as they were more sporting/leftfield.
I think you could have just put all the Japanese in together really.

Where's the Fiat/Lancia/Alfa option?
biggrin

Utterly misleading poll and therefore pointless.

My VW had the best interior. Yet it was the least reliable car I've ever owned.

My Subaru had the worst interior. Yet it was bullet proof mechanically.

Ask a more specific question: Which car has the best interior? Which car has the most reliable mechanics? Totally different.

You can't put Ford in with Vauxhall, the both have that similar vaguely flaky aura, but at least a Ford will last 100k before it falls to bits

No, I've found Mazda to be utter ste too (although that's more to do with their dealers than the car)
