How Much, Mr Wayne? Burton Batmobile Sold

It’s a question that has no doubt troubled the minds of many a petrolhead/fan of comics-turned-movies: just how much can you buy an original Batmobile for on eBay?

Now that burning question has finally been resolved, and the answer is $370,100 (£231k). Well it is if your particular Batmobile of choice is the phallic Gothic beast from the Tim Burton-directed Batman films (Batmen?) of the late 80s and early 90s.

That’s because one of the three original Batmobiles from Batman Returns has just sold on eBay in the States for exactly that price.

Sadly this car, which comes with full documentation, unfortunately doesn’t use a jet for motive power, having to rely instead on a 350cu in Chevy V8 that provides not much more than 200bhp.

But it does look great – and the winner of the online auction has also got a custom trailer thrown in. Holy practical transportation solutions, Batman! (As they might have said in the 1960s…)

This is only a minor issue... but when you roll up anywhere, the car is going to grab ALOT of attention.. but did you ever see Batman actually get in, or out of the car? It aint going to be an elegant departure!!

Look how far you have to get your leg over before it connects with concrete!

Lovely though. Anyone remember the 'full closure' security system from the film? Now that would be cool.

But, I'm guessing the interior we see in the films (with Kim B in the passenger seat etc), is a seperate piece?

The interior here looks a bit less 'wow' than the one we see in the film iirc...

Had a seat in one of these at an exhibition and I can tell you getting in ( or out ) is a major undertaking! Looks great but how much? Holy fk Batman!

Something strange is going on. This car was on sale at the 'keels and wheels' event in Houston last year, along with the bat boat and the penguins rubber duck car. It was on sale for $250K, so someone just got ripped!
