The good thing about rising fuel prices

Most people are protesting about the price of fuel now and are using their cars less as a result because it costs too much. I'm lucky because I use my thirsty car for social/pleasure only. This means that the roads should have less traffic on them for when I want to enjoy a bit of driving....YES! Aunt Margret won't be clogging up the roads any more. The "it's just transport" drivers will now plan to drive out once instead of three times a week.

Yes, it is bad that our enjoyment is costing us more but it does have an upside. Sundays should be more fun.

Many years ago there was a film set in the future where fuel was so valuable that people killed each other for it. The film was Mad Max. More likely the future will be small alternative fuel cars which are incredibly efficient but can do 50mph max only but restricted to 40mph.

Think positive and if you can afford it -DO IT- whilst you still can.

Absolutely. At 60+mpg on my motorbike I can afford for petrol prices to double. This can only mean one thing: less pikeys on the same road as me.

Rising fuel prices has definately NOT reduced the number of drivers on my daily commute. This last week has been the worst I can remember. 50 mins to do 4 miles on Tuesday, totally down to vehicle volume. Time to get the fecking push bike out.

People generally avoid using cars if there is an alternative (like walking or public transport). To get to work by bus/train/walking would take me about 1 hour and 15 minutes or its 20 minutes in the car, so no choice really.

Filled up the M5 today for £75 (still had 1/4 of a tank) and I had done 240 miles since the last fillup. Now 32p per mile just in fuel.
