Anyone know of a place that can weld a crack in an alloy wheel in the greater Manchester area. Also would anyone know how much it might cost.

A crack? Get a new wheel for goodness sake.

you can get it welded, but there is a high risk of both the weld falling out and the crack suddenly getting a lot bigger, who knows, the car might lose control of it's grip on a tight bend and the car rolls over

Utter tosh! Nothing wrong with a welded crack in a wheel.

You do know that your car is held together by welds, don't you? Including major suspension and steering components? Boilers and such on nuclear reactors?

OP - try someone like The Wheel Specialist (google) who can advise, or take the wheel in to them and they'll get it done and then can refinish the wheel for you. They did that for me.

Welding a crack in a wheel is fine.

Shouldn't cost much, do you want them to sand/machine the weld off aswell to make it smooth?

It's impossible to say how much it would cost without knowing the damage and the type of wheel. Could be anywhere between £50 and £150, or maybe more. It might even cost more than a new wheel, although we don't know what type of wheels we're talking about either. What I do know is if the weld fails and there's an accident I doubt the insurance will pay out.

total bks !
Any competant wheel repairer will drill a hole at the end of the crack before welding to stop it getting longer and as for it falling out christ it's WELDED not glued in rolleyes if the weld drops out it's cos the welder didn't do it propperly !

Woulden't it be easier and cheaper to get a replacement wheel from a breakers?
If you have the alloy welded, you'll have to get it repainted - and it may not match?
