I would welcome any advise on this, tomorrow my Harley is being picked up by a UK transportation company to be shipped to a HD dealer in Germany. It just occurred to me what on earth do I do with the V5? The yellow slip is only for transfer to a a UK dealer, how does it work if the bike is being shipped?

I had exactly this scenario myself a couple of years ago. I called DVLA who passed me around a couple of depts & could not give me a definitive answer, espescially as the dealer I was selling to (in the Nederlands) would quite likely be selling it back to a UK customer. In the end I completed the export section of the V5, sent it to Swansea with a covering letter & a copy of the signed & dated invoice explaining the transaction, there is the added complication that if your buyer is using a third party agency to collect the bike then the buyer will not be able to sign the paperwork & the agency will not want to either (I had this problem when I sold a Harley to a guy in Denmark last year, the agency refused to take the paperwork or the keys!) Keep copies of everything as it will be the only proof you have if anything goes wrong.

Right I thought this was if I was exporting the vehicle personally, as it states I have to hand over sections 1-8 for the registration authority in the country it is being exported to. I don't want to take the risk the bike is being ridden around Germany still on UK plates registered to me.
