insurance problem

Hi everyone,
Due to an illness my mates driving licence will be taken off him for 6 months, does anyone know where he can get a fire and theft insurance on a van, parked on private land and has a sorn on it until he is fit for the road again, insurance co. will not play ball and will cancel the existing policy as soon he is hospitilised and his licence is witheld.

He might find it difficult though, as this type of cover tends to be limited to classic / high value / exotica or specialist cars & bikes only.
