After a hard winter of the OH driving the TT-S the wheels are completely battered. In an ideal world I would just replace the complete set but the cost is crazy.

So this led me to think that by looking closely at the wheels they appear to be split rim but I can't be 100% sure without the ball ache of taking it to a garage and having them remove the tyre. If they were split rim I could surely just buy the outer part of the wheel at a lesser cost.

Speaking to the "Parts Manager" at the Audi dealer was fruitless. He could'nt even identify the manufacturer although I am sure they must be BBS?

Can anyone please confirm if they are in fact split rim or faux?

Many thanks.

They certainly look faux, although pretty.

Completely off topic, but what is the audi name for the colour of your car? It's really nice, don't think i've seen it before.

Isn't it Sprint Blue, as the RS4s got?

I'm leaning towards faux as well. After speaking to Demon Tweaks Motorsport up in Wrexham the guy suggested than there are very few off the shelf cars these days supplied with split rim wheels due to the cost. The few cars include the likes of high end 911's and Lambo's.

However, there seems to be no definitive answer on the net.

Is the car still under the manufacturers warranty? If so and assuming the wheels have not been refurbed before you may be able to claim for a new set or at the very least for Audi to refurb them for you. I have done this in the past with BMW on a few occasions, my wife's 330 Clubsport was fitted with split rims which corroded badly, BMW replaaced all four under warranty. Also my M3 which was fitted with the optional 19 inch alloys that are notorious for problems with the laquer lifting.

Just a thought it might save you a few quid?

Ah yes sorry my mistake. I forgot to mention that the wheels suffered a "battering" during the winter due to the OH bouncing off kurbs in the ice/snow and not corrosion. Oh the shame boxedin

I'm going with it being a 2 piece alloy.

Known as Audi Speedlines I believe.

Fitted to a few different Audi models.

Genuine ones are 2 piece split rims.

Ok so not a split rim in the traditional sense but more of a 3/4 alloy with a front "face plate" that bolts on?

Genius. Well done that man. A quick google confirms that they are infact "Audi Speedlines" and are 2 piece splits. Retail @ £800 each phonejester

The quest to source the outer section now begins....

Yep, a bit like the BBS RM, where the wheel barrel is one piece then the lips bolt on.

I'm pretty sure, just the face of these bolts on/off.

Can't find a picture of them split though, they are also known as BBS RS866.

Yes 2 piece split rim. Like the BBS RX (I think from the Polo GTI 6n2).

Just get them refurbed... will cost a few hundred quid to get them looking new.

Have a look on edition38 forum, there'll be more info on there.

I'm thinking once I have sourced the outer piece taking them to Kwik Fit to have the tyres fitted would be a bad idea.

All those bolts to deal with! rofl

Face unbolts, barrel and outer lip are one piece. OP will have to bhave the lip sanded/machine down depending how badly they have been bounced off curbs.

See the join.

I don't think you can replace the lip as it's part of the barrel.

Only the centre bolts in / out.

A refurber should be able to repair the lips anyway.

Can you not just get them refurbished?

£200 is all it should cost to sandblast and paint all 4.
