Just loaded up my track car to move it and as soon as l've driven off the brakes have locked up.

lt's a twin wheel trailer and at first the 'front' two locked up so l repositioned the car on the trailer to balance the weight and then the 'rear' wheels locked up.

This made towing very dangerous. However, after a few miles l realised that they had stopped locking up - is it possible they just needed to 'bed in' after the winter and that by using it the lockup should go away?

i suspect that the brakes had seized/frozen due to the bad weather, leading to the locking up. Normal repair method is to hit the back of the drums with a large hammer.

Sorry, l didn't make it clear - they only locked up momentarily when l braked. Then they release and they're fine.

Now that l've driven it a while all seems ok - maybe a bit of rust was in the drums or the shoes needed to heat up?

I'd removed the drums to double check everything OK.
I had a 4 wheeled Tow-a-Van and the bonded lining came off the shoes when it was next used after standing for just a little while. FWIW the brakes still seemed to work despite linings being loose !
