Hi All,

Currently in the process of selling my car. A chap from abroad (cyprus) wants to purchase the car but wants to make the payment via bank transfer and then organise the delivery of the vehicle via a transport delivery company. I've never done this sort of deal before is there anything I should be aware of? is it safe to do this sort of transaction? would any of you agree to this sort of deal? the amount is around the 15K mark. Thanks

Curious, but isn't a bank transfer pretty irreversible?

It's not classic scam atall - main point being the TRANSFER part.

As long as you have, at some point, clear funds AND STILL HAVE THE CAR! it will be fine.

Family orignally from Cyprus, they love coming over here and buying cars, they all do it.

As I said, they actually come over in person. This does sound like a scam.

Tell him you want 2 weeks for the money to clear before releasing the car. Bet you dont hear a thing back!

So long as your bank confirm the money is there, it's there. Check it out with your bank to make sure of the details. If it's done bank to bank it's not a Western Union scam.

If it is a scam you don't actually lose the car you know or the money

They just ask you to pay the shipping fee's once it looks like you have 15k in your bank.

You can lose up to a grand though if you're daft
