Possibly going down this route for the next car, is it a wise move, or am i better off looking at something else?

Wise in terms of what? If you have no legs or arms then I'd probably steer clear.

There are Haters and lovers and different faults with different age spans, early one's the rear plastic windows crack and fog up etc and some develop a rattle behind the dash etc.

But TBH I drove an 04 plate s2k and it was blimin awesome it had an AEM Induction kit and it sounded amazing !, I'd say just drive 1 as some people love them some people hate them, I'm sure you'll get the full prospect of views on this thread. Definatly Test drive one to make up your own mind thumbup

I picked one up on Monday, been grinning all week. I managed to get a '00 model with a later glass rear screen and 48k on the clock. (Tax is also cheap as it's pre '01)

Dependant on how much you have to spend the '08 models onwards come with VSD so you'll have a degree of traction control if you get into trouble. Don't take liberties with this though or the car will happily put you in a ditch.

That sounds like the sort i am after, a 2000 model year one. I wont be taking liberties with it, as i am used to front wheel drive, so will take a bit of time to get used to. If i bought one, then i think some time spent on an airfield learning when it's going to go, and how to catch it might be usefull. Besides, my days of screaming around at mach 2 are long gone, so it would be a mid life crisis type deal

Had one and think they are overated. The mx5 is IMHO better balanced car for power to grip and better built. Honda's mythical reliability is exactly that - a myth.
Lots of engines going pop out there as they get old and lots have flown off the road backwards!
Buy with care....
