You watch the opening credits to Roary the Racing Car and look at racing lines they take and the speed carried through the apex.

Any others?

When your holiday photos come back from the developers and they all seem to be of cars you saw abroad... R5 alpine, innocenti mini cooper, lancia, opel... No pictures of me, my friends or anything holiday shaped.

When, even after more than 4 years of ownership, you still glance back at your car after parking it up. smile

You only recognise TV programmes by what cars the characters in them drive.

When a car is accelerating in a film and you work out "that's first, there's second, ok he's now doing high revs in 3rd down a pavement in a 355 - that's 130mph".

When you watch Crimewatch or similar and think "hang-on, they must be false plates - they never made that version on a xx-plate".

Unless your watching the Fast and the Furious etc. Them cars seem to have more gears than a mountain bike!!

You can, after 12 cars ownership, remember the reg of every one and the weird characteristics of each and every one.

Or, in the case of my PHer mate - you have loads of photos on your iPhone, none of compromising photos of the missus or anything like that, just badly parked cars and chavvy numberplates.

You stop your wife mid conversation to listen to a car blasting along in the distance and declare 'that's a V10, sounds like a Lamborghini' before letting her continue.

Or, you assume that everyone has a vision of the car that they will be driving at a certain age/point of time in the future.

F&F frustrations are a must for any proper petrol head!

Just like when you see a racing film and the car in second comes up next to you and so they push the accelerator down a bit more. It's racing - why was it not down the whole way!!!

Another pet hate of mine is when they have dubbed the sound of the real engine and put fake sound over the top!
Car in film = italian v8

Car sound = American v8 rumble

The racing lines in Roary are pretty awful.

You think they'd have used Stirling Moss for more than just a quick voice over.

You know when you are obsessed with cars when.... your driving at night, 9/10 you can correctly guess the make and model of the car in the far distance, just by the shape, width and height of the brake lights.

When you planned a holiday for the express purpose of going to see the Ferrari and Lamborghini Museums. And as a bonus saw an original 500 Abarth in a tiny little town. It got more photos than any of the ones in the musuems biggrin

You get a surge of pride when...
You point out a Ferrari California to your better half, who never used to care about cars before you were together, and her immdediate response is 'Stylistically they really have lost their way recently haven't they..'
