Would imagine it depends on the company, for us we just photocopy our driving license when we started and signout the keys for the pool cars as and when we require them!

Have you spoken to your transport manager???

I haven't spoke to the transport manager yet as i don't know if there is one?

All i'm aware is that they will supply me with a hire car for me to get to work the day i start, i believe i will continue to use the car until a company car is arranged, as i will have my own car because of the job i will be doing.

I've emailed the contact i have in HR who called and offered me the job, for any more info on the company car etc?

i will see what she says, i was just wondering what experience everyone else has had.

Thank you anyway, if i don't get anywhere i will ask if there is a transport manager i can speak to.

Lots of the questions you have asked vary from employer to employer. The biggest thing you need to find out is whether the car is a Pool car which you collect each day and return at the end of your day, or a company car you take home. The latter will probably cost you more in tax.

Do i get a choice? - most will, some will give you the keys to something already on the fleet or the cash to sort your own car out.

Do i pay for insurance, Tax etc? - most will sort your tax/insurance/running costs.

Whats the story with persona use? - 99% is OK. You'll pay BiK on the car and also free fuel if your company offer it to you.

It varies a lot, so talk to your company.

Cheers people, i am informed its a company car that i will take home.

I will hopefully get some good advice from the company, just need to know whether i need to get my car advertised properly as i won't have anywhere to keep it and need to know.

i just like being prepared.

Have a look on here, some useful information, plus you'll be able to work out an approximation of how much it'll cost you in tax a month once you know what type of car you'll be getting.

What level of car do you get? Supermini or Executive?

Cheers for the website will be reading that tonight.

i'm not sure what size of car it will be, from looking at other engineers at the company they seem to have Mondeo and Insignia estates.

but i've been told they got a few Nissan Navara's in with chinky tyres for thew bad weather.

i really hope its not a supermini.

Something Golf sized or Mondeo like would be good

Navara would be cheaper as it comes under commercial rates.

You don't want a Navara though, they blow up ;-)
