Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric no more!

Now replaced with the just launched Asymmetric 2! I figured as this is an extremely popular tyre on PH everyone would want to know first.

My swift still has the Eagle f1 gsd3 as its the only decent tyres you can get in the right size

Had it both on a Vectra and Astra of my own. Found similar on some of the work cars including a W8 Passat, VXR Vectra and a Mondeo ST. All the work cars run Goodyears, and I found the Optigrip felt a lot better, but had less outright grip.At least one magazine review (EVO I think) said similar.

Having just driven back to back identical A7's on a non-GYD track wearing the F1 A2, S001 and 5P I can say subjectively the F1 A2 offers the best feedback, turn in and linearity. I left extremely impressed.More details tomorrow once I've had some sleep.

Back to back track driving, in both the wet and dry of the F1 A2, Bridgestone S001 and Conti Sport Contact 5P.
Identical cars (Audi A7), same tyre pressures, same tread depth, same track.
There was very little grip wise between the tyres in the dry. I've not gone through my data yet but I couldn't tell you which offered the most dry grip in the corners. In the wet the difference was a bit more obvious, with Goodyear just edged it in the wet over the Conti, and the Bridgestone last.
There was a far more noticeable difference subjectively.
The Goodyear offered by far the best feedback, steering response and linearity of the 3. The Conti offered fairly good feedback, but it didn't turn in at all well, and the Bridgestone turned a little better than the Conti but offered so little feedback it was hard to tell what was going on.
This opinion was shared by nearly everyone I spoke to.
I didn't really like the original F1 A, and I really wanted to like the Conti 5P but after trying them all on identical cars, I'm sold on the Goodyear.
