My first what car....
Discussion
Don't normally ask as I usually know what I'm after, but due to my back problems I am selling my Mk 5 Gti - keeping the Mk 4 Gti. Only reason being I'm getting more money for the Mk5. I love the Golf but I am really struggling to get in and out. Have someone interested - so now I need something that I can get in and out without the pain.
I have never really liked 4x4's and I don't really know what a cross over is meant to be - but I need something that I can step into rather than painfully duck into. This is why I'm asking what car should I go for, I genuinely have no idea about the bigger cars - don't know what to look for when buying etc.
I require something comfortable to drive - I'm 6ft 1 and have a really fecked back, the Golf is uncomfortable to get in/out and occasionaly painfull to drive. I have a budget of around 7K - I know not much, I'm getting married in August and if I manage to get her to bring the budget down a bit I may have more, but right now 7k max.
If possible I'd like something comfortable, reliable, sporty and something that looks OK. I know I want the world for 7k !
I have no experience, other than occasional passenger, of 4x4's/crossovers, but I know from being a passenger they are easy/comfortable to get in/out. I have no idea what to look out for when viewing/test driving these cars.
At a recent service I was given a Golf Plus as a courtesy car - this was a top spec one and it felt quite sporty and was pretty comfy for me.
Advice/thoughts on what you think I should try appreciated !
Cheers all.
This might be one of the few times a BMW X3 could make sense, maybe get the SE though if ride quality is important:

(Having looked again, I'm not entirely sure as to the legitimacy of that advert.)
Or maybe a Subaru Forester of some description:

There are a few out there on Autotrader at that sort of price but as I edited above I'm not sure how legitimate that PH advert is.I don't know how they drive, but I expect they're a lot nicer than a mini MPV.

We're currently considering a Mazda CX-7 but you've given me something to think about now.

C-Max? Very comfy and spacious interior.
I'm biased admittedly having just bought one but maybe a Skoda Superb? Very comfy, insane amounts of legroom, and the top spec models have seats with adjustable lumbar support etc. You'd have plenty of change from £7k as well.
C-Max I have thought about - was waiting to see what other thought about them. My Dad has a 56 plate top spec Superb - he loves it. It is a very nice car- not even got 20K on clock..maybe I should be speaking with him! I know he loves it and won't sell.I'm biased admittedly having just bought one but maybe a Skoda Superb? Why can't people take a decent set of pictures when they are selling their cars. I appreciate not all may love their motor's as much as I care for mine...but for ffs take a decent set of pics with a good description of the car !! I've been looking through a few suggestions - I would be willing to travel to look at the motor but if you can't take a decent set of pictures it could be the best of the bunch but I won't go near it! If I'm selling, which I have through PH, i take a decent set of pics - with a camera, not a phone - and a detailed description.
For some reason the Zafira GSi's have the worst pics/description.
I've had a few glasses of red and may be p'd off at selling the Golf, i just wish people would make me want to go look at their car !!
Mini rant over.
