Porsche Boxster ignition problem....
Discussion
My Boxster has been garaged for two weeks.
Went to move it today and the ignition seems to be dead!
Nothing wrong with the battery as all electrics working fine.
It always starts first time.
Is this a security thing as it has been dormant for a couple of weeks or is there a problem?
Thanks for any answers!!

yes, there is a "vacation lock" which kicks in after about a week - usually the remote wont respond and you have to "awaken" the car by turning the key in the door lock then unlocking properly with the remote.....however I think you're beyond this and its more than likely just a very weak battery...

Yup, my cayman did this - it does it to conserve the battery. Hook it up to a trickle charger and follow the instructions in the manual for restarting after this has happened. Thanks all for your comments.
I have charged the battery, fully charged.
Still nothing. The key turns in the ignition but not a dicki bird!
everything works electronically.
I am baffled now.
I dont understand how this can happen just because she hasn't been turned over for two weeks?
its a Porsche for god sake. It should be able to go for two weeks without being started?
any further help or comments gratefully received

You did do the manual unlocking of the door thing didn't you? My old Boxster went to sleep after a while. Key in the door unlock, open & close door and relock. Blip remote to reopen and it started up just fine.
Otherwise you could be knackered old battery if it's fully charged but just isn't putting out enough juice to crank the engine. My Boxtser one went after about 5 years. New battery solved the issue

Yep
I did lock and unlock the door, but actually the key had not gone dormant anyway.
Whilst the car is in the garage i do not lock it as the alarm kept going off before!
So i have conserved energy anyway by not having the car locked.
when i turn on the ignition there is a sound like the car quivers (thats as near as i can describe it!)but when i turn the key that final turn to start the engine.... nothing!

You'd have been better off posting this in the Porsche forum, or do so now.
Most likely culprit is a knackered ignition switch - go on the Porsche forum and use the search facility for this to find the correct VW part number - it's around a tenner I think (as opposed to more like £40 for one in a Porsche box) and apparently quite an easy fit.

feel the carpet behind the passenger seat. At this time of year i fear the worst especially after recent heavy rains.
What it may be worst way is that your water drainage points for the clam shell have become blocked over winter and when this happens water flows under the shelf carpet down behind passenger seat, where the alarm and immobiliser are situated. This then kills the immobiliser. Its a common fault, you have to keep on top of the drainage points. To Check these drop he hood half way, then look under the clam shell, there should be a drainage point at either side.
Its about a £7-800 job at Porsche. Has happened with a hadful of cars recently on the owners forum. I luckily cleared mine just in time as they were pretty blocked! sorry if i have put the fear of god in to you!
