De Tomaso Revival Model Revealed...

...and it's a crossover SUV dubbed the SLC

Oh. Dear. When we first saw saw leaked teaser shots of the first creation of the recently reborn De Tomaso operation back in December, along with news that the car would either be a luxury saloon or an SUV, we were worried.

Now De Tomaso has revealed the car, ahead of its Geneva show launch, we are actually a little bit upset. Turns out the SLC is an SUV, a sort of Italian take on the BMW X6. At least it's got a 500bhp-plus V8 under the bonnet...

It won't be cheap either, with prices expected to be in the region of 100,000-130,000 euros (£85k-£110k).

There is some good news for those hoping for a successor to the Pantera, however - one of those is on the way.

Now if you'll excuse us, we're off to stare longingly at the Panteras in the De Tomaso section of the PH classifieds...

Not a bad saloon? car but its a bit BMW 5 series or Maserati quattroporte? so to say...
its a bit "normal"
but then, de Tomaso also made some normal models...
I wait to see when the new sport models come.

I particularly like the way the wheels are far too small for the wheel arches.

Something looks wrong about that - in the side shot, not only do the wheels look too small, the rear wheel looks set too far forward in the rear arch...almost like the body was designed and built in a completely separate place to the chassis upon which it's mounted.

Not good. Not good at all.

Indeed. It looks like they took a smallish car (an MG6, in fact, from the side?) and scaled everything except the wheels and axles up 30%.

The rear wheel offset is what looks wrong - it's not too small, or too far-forward, but set INSIDE the arch, which is what's confusing.

Are you sure this isn't the latest Korean machine...no self-respecting Italian designer would ever pen something so bland and characterless...
