Hey,

Is anyone here board of the star in a reasonably priced car segment of Top Gear? It's completely pointless, nothing about cars (affordable or otherwise), and just a bit to drill into the past of stars and gossip.

Take last Sunday's Top Gear for example. They do the Pagani Zonda review (the race car and road-going version), and then "to cheer us up" because the race version is not street-legal, they go to the SIARPC segment, which is where I change the channel.

There are various segments TG which are not productive (won't inform anyone on what car to buy), but which are at least funny (e.g. parts of that Albanian trip), but SIARPC is just so boring.

Anyone agree?

I don't mind when it's a guest I like but Sundays episode was as dull as dishwater.

I agree, but enjoyed last Sunday's as I find that pair amusing.

I am getting a bit frustrated at the lack of proper car bits - I usually record then fast forward the star bit, have done for quite a while.

I would far rather have had 10 mins more on the Zonda frankly.

I think TG are losing the plot to be honest - always used to really look forward to it - this last series has been terrible - think they are trying to be too 'clever' for their own good. Unless its just run out of ideas!!!

I think they lost it a few series ago, but I think they have now gone back to their old ways and think the series are gettign slightly better each time.

As to the OP, it depends who the star is tbh, if I like them then its nice to hear what they are up to etc, but if it's someone I'm not interested in then I tend not to take as much interest.

It is nice how they take a "celebrity" and put them in quite a scary situation for some and challenging event for others.

I'd like to know a Stig/May/JC/RH time for the reasonably priced car, purely out of interest.

I only watch it in the hope that someone will have a spectacular moment in it and total the car (obviously not hurting themselves!) but other than that its a good chance to make a drink, bit like an advert break really

I agree, always hated the Star in a Reasonably Priced car bit. I often leave the room at this point and get a drink or something.

Wouldn't mind so much if it was 1/3 the length and I seriously can't understand why they have to use such mundane cars.

I'd much rather see a someone trying a hot lap in a MK1-3 MX-5, RX-7, MGB, 60's Mustang. Anything that would prove a bit more of a challenge and more of a spectacle.

I still enjoy the rest of the show but the Star segment is just the opportunity for the guest who has little interest in cars to plug their latest film/tv programme/book etc

I don't mind it when the celeb is actually into cars and not just there to promote whatever dross they've acted in lately.

I like it. Gives me chance to find out who's who. Those 2 blokes last week for instance, i'd never heard of 'em before. SIARPC was the first time i saw Rob Brydon and James Corden when they appeared.
