company car choice problem
Discussion
Need some objective advice on the next company car that I will have to live with for the next 4 years.....
To cut a long story short it's down to Freelander S 4WD v Skoda Octavia Scout
Scout
FOR: lots of kit; lower company car tax, massive boot (2 young kids); easy to re-map to 180PS
AGAINST: It's just another bloody Skoda (I currently have one of these already); only tows up to 1600Kg
Freelander
FOR: Brand status; presence on road; 210mm ground clearance; tows up to 2000Kg
AGAINST: tiny boot; higher company car tax
Most friends (that I actually respect the views of) say go for the Scout but.....I really like the Freelander!

Hmm, as a Skoda man (in connection with sales) I would be more forward to point you this way, especially with the scout!
Are you going to be pulling more than 1600kgs regulary? If not, the MPG, car tax, etc that youll be paying on the freelander seems a bit of a waste.
Also, just a quick note, look into JD Power for the pair of them! My OH's freelander 09,59 has broken down 16 times with various faults since she purchased it! Infact, she has done more miles in my rotton old cars than the freelander in that time, without a single glitch!
Not saying Skoda's dont have their problems, but they are far and few between!

I say go for what you like. 4 years is a long time in a vehicle you didn't really want.To cut a long story short it's down to Freelander S 4WD v Skoda Octavia Scout

And while I have no doubt the Skoda will be faster, I suspect its the Freelander that'll make you smile more when driving it. It'll never be quick (although you can remap them too, check out Twisted Performance).
You might also find a love of greenlaning too if you try it out. The Freelander is quite a capable machine.
