Hello everyone!

I recently realised that the reverse lights on my Mk 3 Capri S have stopped working. 1st thing I did was check the bulbs by swapping them round, it wasn't the bulbs as what ever one I used in the reverse light fitting didn't work. As I was doing this a neighbour suggested I check the switch at the gearbox. After jacking the car up I found the following (see images) and thing this may be the problem, but I'm unsure as to whether there is a part missing or whether the lead in the images connects to something else... Can anyone point me in the right direction? I thing there is something missing but not sure what to look for. Is there something else that sits between this lead and the socket in the background on the gearbox??

Any help is very much appreciated!!

Thanks! (PS - I've put a few pics on in case someone spots something I haven't)

Almost certainly a fixing of some sort.

What happens with the igntion on and you pressing that exposed spring IN to the part?

I've tried putting the loose cable into the fitting on the gear box but realised there was obviously something missing. Not sure what happens when the spring is pushed in, I'll have ago and see.

Thanks for the ebay link! I don't quite understand how that part fits in place, is there any pics showing the part fitted?

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, I'm on a bit of a learning curve at the moment!

Cheers
