£12k for a 205Gti - would you? Who would?
Discussion
There's no denying it's a good car and one of legend but, £12k? Seriously?

It has also been for sale at that price for quite a while. Have a look at some others over the last year or so on another thread - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
The only way to keep an example like this worth any money would be too keep it ultra clean and low mileage which would take out the fun of owning it. Its a car that WANTS to be driven.
Also, having owned one of these before, they are not a fan of being sat in a garge collecting dust. They need to be driven to keep them in good order. The brakes seize very quickly and the idle will hunt if not driven very often.
Would be more fun and much, much cheaper to restore one to this kind of condition.

TBH I think £12k is alright for that. I won't be buying it, but I can see the attraction. A car someone wanted in their youth but couldn't afford, but now can. Plus it's a great example not a knackered shed that will need constant work. There's lots worse ways to spend £12k than on a legendary hatch.
I think I'd struggle to spend £12k on that one, when you could have this one for only a little more than half the cash:
