Just wondering, is there any sort of testing for driving instructors?
I just followed an old boy driving a learner's car (I appreciate he may not have been an instructor, but it's not the first time I've seen something like this!) onto the motorway and was shocked at his roundabout discipline, followed by the ridiculous amount of speed he carried onto the motorway...
It's good to know people like this are teaching people to drive! rolleyes

Have to pass a 3-part ADI test, IIRC.

But yes, some instructors live by the "if you can, do, if you can't, teach" motto.

what 'ridiculous' speed was he doing?

Driving instructors seem to suffer quite a bit of road rage when behind the wheel themselves. Probably venting frustration after another lesson with some blonde tt or spotty youth.

They are regularly re-tested, I know because I was the pupil mine chose to have for the check test (he must have been mad!)

Their driving does tend to be shocking. I was infront of one that ran a red light, he passed through the red light 3-4 secs after it changed to red.

My bro had another one trying to "race" him just because his car has an aftermarket exhaust.

More than OP.

If he's slower than me, he's a Dick.

if he's quicker than me, he's a maniac!

Probably pissed off they work all those hours and still earn less than £20k. I remember my instructor telling me in order to earn the supposed £25-£30k, you would be working 70 hours per week.

Followed one this afternoon for about 10 miles on a country road. As I was a bit bored I decided to "test" him by observation. His driving was excellent!

Nope, the other way around.
He joined the motorway at somewhere between 35-45mph. Given the traffic he was filtering into (when I say 'filtering' he basically just pulled onto the motorway with no indication) it was a bit silly. He sat in the outside lane of the slip lane 'accelerating' up to that speed as well. I was behind him and undertook to join the motorway at 'normal' speed. He then trundled off down the middle lane for no reason as well...

To be fair that was probably the top speed of his car.
