Insurance cost: £600 per year

2006 (56) Astra VXR. 30,000 miles.
Insurance cost: £900 per year

Driver details: 24y/o. 22,000 miles per year (mixed driving). Likes a quick car but also likes good fuel economy.


Both cars priced at £9,000. Which (or neither) would you go for?

Probably better ways to spend £9k though - the Astra H is horrid reliability wise.

Agree about the engine, feels dated. Reliability is fine for mine, so far.

VXR likes shredding gearboxes and there's a few electrical gremlins still kicking around in the model range as a whole.

1.8 is terrible on fuel ecconomy
