Why aren't the diffs sending all of the power to the wheels with least resistance?

how pi$$ed off would you be if you dropped one of the wheels while re-fitting!

Because the diff sends all the power to the wheel with the most speed. I imagine a very gentle touch of the brakes would be enough to stop the off the ground wheels dead, while allowing the ones on the road to keep rolling.
