I always assumed that drivers of Toyota's world-saving icon would be delightful folk - geography teachers, vicars and the like.

Not so.

Driving along this evening, I'm on one of those roads that changes from a dual carriageway to a single carriageway, the sort where people tend to merge with each other without undue fuss or complaint. It's quite busy so traffic is pootling along quite slowly.

I reach the point where the two lanes merge into one and flying up behind me comes this Prius. He overtakes me (I'm in the inside lane) and cuts in sharply, seemingly missing my front end by mere inches.

A quick toot on the horn and a "what are you doing?"-type action from me, and the Prius man comes to a halt, leaps out of his car and shouts "well I'm not the one ruining the planet in my flash Ferrari". (I had my window open a little so heard him clearly.) My car is not a Ferrari and neither does it vaguely resemble one.

Now I'm ashamed to admit that I did not retort. I was rendered speechless. Not being a six foot six shaven headed be-goateed cage fighter I wouldn't want to be too aggressive, but what could I have said to this poor misguided fool?

If you were in a Ferrari, you should have bounced it off the limiter whilst he was talking.

very little you would want to do, a kick to your ferrari would be devestating. a kick to his piece of st toaster on wheels would probably make it more interesting. alot of time being witty or having witty comebacks is more about thinking about them beforehand and having some ready for different situations!
rest assured that unless he's one of the few on here that have a tvr etc tucked up at home (unlikely by his response) that have a prius company car for daily use he is most likly a total fanny that everyone KNOWS he's a . and in your car people just think your a wink

edited to change ferrari to porsche

Believe me if I was internet-fantasizing, I would do better than being verbally outwitted by a Prius driver on a dark, damp dual carriageway in the East Midlands!

You could have told him that he is ruining the planet by driving a car that is causing huge ecological damage in producing its batteries, and will cause even more when the time comes to scrap it.

or that the carbon dioxide generated from his own sense of smug satisfaction pollutes far more than your car ever could

Is it not a fact that anyone who drives a Prius has extremely small penis? (Including the women)

Just envy chap, nod knowingly and more on.

Or the fact that for one Prius to be produced, millions of batteries are transported by boats and lorries using??? You guessed it, fossil fuels! So before the battery even enters the car its already polluting the environment.

I had an interesting rendezvous with a Pious driver. Tried to overtake me on a section of road with bollards along the centre line .. though a bus coming the other way put an end to that. But worse of all he had his foglights / main beam on (i couldn't tell from the f*g glare in my mirror) and after we joined the dual-carriageway i decided to give him a bit of his own medicine and follow him with my main beam on. He then pulled his car to a halt in front of me. So i overtook and carried on as normal. He then closed up on me, as i wasn't really in a rush to get away, and the exercise was repeated several times till i reached the exit i wanted to run off at. Madness i say. Total madness.

Good point and especially valid when the raw materials used to produce other cars are grown in fields that are local to the production site.

I had a rant from a Prius owner about how bad my V8 Manta is, I asked him how good for the planet his 4 children and two dogs are, then rounded on him regarding the resources in the batteries of his horrible smug wker wagon.

Its a good thing I knew of this guy before hand and had time to prepare a retaliatory strike for when he finally got up the courage to have a pop at me, we were fixing said Prius you see and had it in the workshop and he had visited several times and I could tell he wanted to engage me in an out smugging contest.

That reminds me, the alloy wheel tree needs pruning. It suffered a bit over winter and now only produces 3 spokes and TSW venoms...

And that the each electric Prius motor requires 1 kilogram (2.2 lb) of neodymium that creates radioactive waste and polluted wastelands in China and the USA.
