Locking Wheel Nut (key)

Mrs Jem0911 seems to have mislaid the key to the wheel nuts on the Mondeo.

Is it as simple as nipping down to the stealer and buying a new one?

Or am I into to open wallet surgery to drill off the existing lockers and buying a new set?

no get a socket on there mate tight 1 hammer it on then it should come of or get the chicel out with the hammer

Dealer should have a master key. They may be able to order you a new key for existing nuts or just take them all off for you and sell you a new set of locking wheel nuts (this was the scenario with Porsche a few years ago).

If they are the original Ford locking wheel bolts, the dealer should be able to match it to a master set and then supply you a new one. Or the code of the key maybe documented in the vehicles history and they will order you a new one.(This is doubtful)

My mum did the same trick on her Focus!

If they were factory fitted the key code may be on the vehicle record which any dealer can access - that's certainly the case for Citroens.

I lost my locking wheel key, and having seen how easily this works, I don't bother with locking wheel nuts any more - this way is quicker than getting the key out of the boot!

There is another way that doesn't even involve using a hammer, and it's just as quick, but I'm not putting it on a public forum.
