Having read a lot of Mumsnet type threads on here, regarding the price of fuel, MPG, should I buy a DERV, etc. I was thinking, what is the most expensive thing you could run a car on (not including conventional fuels), how much would it cost to fill your tank, and what MPG do you think you would achieve?

Plutonium or some st? I'd imagine the mp(g?) would be pretty good though, just the initial cost might be a bit pricey.

Vintage Krug Clos d'Ambonnay, is about 2500 quid a litre. That would hurt a lot if I had to run my car on that. A 60 litre tank, and 26 mpg would hurt yes.

Printer ink.

ETA - If Printer ink is $8000 per US Gallon (Price from internet most likely wrong). It would cost Approx £71,601 to fill my 55 litre tank.

What about gold, and some form of gold-melting fuel tank?

£2.1million for a 75-litre tank by my positively dubious maths, if it's £28/gram.

Saffron is pretty expensive. A quick google suggests something like £3,000 per kilo if you buy in bulk.

Assuming a density of 1 then it's cost £222,000 to fill my tank.

I'm not sure what it would do to the performance though.
