RE: Pagani Huayra 'In The Carbon'

Pagani Huayra 'In The Carbon'
New £1M hypercar from Pagani leaves us speechless. (But we can still type...)
It's Horacio Pagani's latest masterpiece, and seeing it 'in the carbon' has left us momentarily speechless.
The hypercar with a name that sounds best when delivered in a Geordie accent is undoubtedly one of the stars of the Geneva show this year.
You probably know the spec off by heart already, but the Huayra features a twin turbo Mercedes Benz V12 instead of the old naturally aspirated 7.3-litre unit, with over 700bhp promised and an unbelievable 811lb ft of torque. Seeing as it has a seven-speed sequential gearbox (designed by Xtrac) and weighs just 1,350kg (dry), the performance should be right up there at Veyron levels of ferocity. After all, it has 512bhp/ton!
The Huayra (or C9 to give it its project number - anorak on: another Mercedes reference if you're a fan of old Group C racers: anorak off) takes Pagani in a new direction. It's sleeker, less showy than the last of the Zondas, and the mechanical parts under that unusual (but it's definitely growing on us...) skin are as much art as they are there for a purpose. From the major components right down to the titanium bolts at 60E a pop, never before has a car quite exuded this almost fetishist approach to engineering. It is completely, and utterly staggering, and all we require is a cool £1-Mill in the bank to spend quite evenings alone with one in our suitably lavish garage block. Oh well, we'll keep dreaming...
Discussion
Looks fab and a bit grown up compared to the Hammond 'school boy' view of the Zonda.
You just know its going to do exactly what its supposed to do, which is to raise the bar very high for Ferraris next hyper car ....
Colour scheme works better than the champagne and as always the detailing is of the highest standard.

I wonder what the profit margins are like on that?
Its a wonderful thing, as an engineer myself its a work of art but its just not a car, its a very very rich mans play thing and as such no longer really relevant when talking about cars. Compare it to the new lambo for example it its self an expensive thing but an extra £800k for this?
I really dont care for cars in this price braket i think they are pointless.

I completely agree. i think its just a masterpiece. You just know its going to do exactly what its supposed to do, which is to raise the bar very high for Ferraris next hyper car ....

The attention to detail on every bit of this car is like nothing else you can buy at any price. Other cars (like the MP4-12C mentioned above) may equal its performance (nearly) for a fraction of the price but while most modern supercars are exceptionally capable but it has to be said, in the most part boring either to drive or look at, this Pagani just makes your hairs stand on end and you know its going to be unbelievibly exciting to drive.
It offers more excitement than a 911 Turbo S, 458 Italia and MP4-12C put together! (as brilliant and capable as all those cars are) for that reason alone i think its worth £1m

Saw a McLaren MC12 the other day...it sounds and it looks so dull! Disappointing!

We know about the noise and look deficiencies, but did you see the look on the driver's face?

tting monkfish from the front, grinning simpleton from the back. Not the best look. It'll be an amazing car though. I just dislike it's exterior looks. A lot.
