Driving at the speed limit
Discussion
I was driving home on a NSL road, which drops to 30mph about 600 yard before entering a village. So in a vain attempt to stick to the laws of the road I slowed to the speed limit (not aggressively but at a fair enough rate that it didn't inconvenience others) and the person following me got right up my back end and started flashing. Thought nothing of it, maybe got a brake light out.
They proceeded to follow me through the village very close (to the extent I couldn't see his lights, only noticed there was more glare when he was flashing), honking the horn.
So my question is, regardless of whether a speed limit is justified or not, is the chap following me utterly mental? I chose not to pull over and let him pass since he was being (in my opinion) an utter t
t.

I don't do big miles now like I used to, but even when I did I never saw any examples of idiocy like this. Yet I read almost daily on here an account very similar to above, with pretty much the same replies. Yes he/they/she were behaving supidly, why would you think any differently?
Just move over & let them get out of your way.
Edited for spooling.

Yes, once through the village I dropped 3 gears and stayed at 60 through the twisties, didnt see him again.
The reason I posted was that I get a bit angry when people drive at 10 or 20 mph below NSL for no reason, but I felt as though he was trying to intimidate me into breaking the law (I only let indicated speed go above the posted limit when I want, and not when the tosser in the fiesta wants me to!)

A few months back i was on the m25 just after the a12 and then m11 junctions where there was an average speed camera.
So i'm driving along quite happy in my van, slow down to 50 for the average speed cam and think nothing of it.
After a while the phone rings, its my girlfriend asking where i am because apparantly i have just caused a 5 car (or something ridiculous like that) pile up on the m25, i reply yes i am on the m25 to which she says 'theres a bloke on the phone who reckons i am swerving all over the place swapping lanes and i'm now doing 30mph and he is reporting me to the police after the accident i just caused.
Of course now i'm in shock thinking WTF , i'm very good in my mirrors and the term 'driving in my mirrors' comes to mind so i'm pretty certain that i didn't cause anything to happen apart from people behind me slowing to 50.
I tell her that i'll turn at the next junction and go back and see whats happening.
2 mins later, phone rings again, now hes phoned her again and hes going mental, saying i cant be insured to drive the van on a saturday, does the boss know i'm out in the van, i just caused a pile up, i must be drunk etc etc, girlfriend is now pretty scared as hes very angry.
Anyway now the limit is passing (hes still on the phone to her doing his b
ks) , the car behind, which is obviously him pulls up next to me and calls me a w
ker while on the phone hes telling her i,m giving him the finger and shouting at him (which i wasnt i was atually in quite a bit of shock over it all). He is also clearly holding a phone to his ear (i'm on handsfree) so hes actually the one commiting an offence.
He hangs up and thats that.
I get to the next junction turn round and go back just to see if anything had happened, of course there was nothing (and we all know even a small knock on the m25 messes it up for hours). I also got my dad to check the internet accident website thing which says if theres been accidents which there hadn't.
So i can only assume that after all that he was pissed off because i was doing 50 and that the cameras wern't working at the time and he thought that by ringing the house phone (sign written van) that he would get the 'driver' in trouble.
I mean what a w
ker, what sort of moron does that? Some people have some pretty deep issues, even if the cameras wern't working how the f
k did i know that and to report it to the 'office' with a view to the driver getting a b
king is astounding imo.

Have to go through a 30 - 50 - 30 section of road on my way to work, its very very rare i get to travel at 50, usually full of people doing 40 - 40 - 40
When approaching the 50 i stick dead on 30 to create a nice gap in front of me so i can drive at 50 for at least 30 seconds before i catch up to someone doing 35 - 40

It's quite normal I think (people catching up and tailgating you in a 30 when you're doing 30ish).
Is there any point letting them past given that a. there is often little room in 30 limits to pass safely and b. You can easily catch them up in NSL when you're driving a stock MR2 Mk3/Nissan Micra/Morris Minor and they hold YOU up.
king genius!
Ahhh! Justice!!

I sent him absolutely mental by stopping and letting a tractor out in front of me, then I turned off into a side road.
That's cold, calculated and f
